Which describes the relationship between [H+] and [OH−] ?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: There are quite a fewrelationships between [H+] and [OH−]ions. And because there is a large range of number between 10 to 10-15M, the pH is used. pH = -log[H+] and pOH = -log[OH−]. In aqueous solutions, [H+][OH- ] = 10-14. From here we can derive the values of each concentration.

-log[H+ ] + -log[OH- ] = -log[10-14]
pH + pOH = 14
So pH = 14 – pOH and pOH = 14 –pH

A neutral solution occurs when pH= pOH = 7. It is an acid solution when [H+ ] > [OH- ],  pH < 7 and basic when [H+ ] < [OH- ], pH> 7.
Answer 2
Answer: H+ is for an acid, which has a pH of 1-7. OH- is for a base, called hydroxide, and has a pH of 7-14.

pH 7 is neutral.

Answer:

The equation is balanced.

Explanation:

The number of P atoms in the reactant side is 4 and the number of P atoms in the product side is also 4.

The number of O atoms in the reactant side is 16 and the number of O atoms in the product side is also 16.

The number of H atoms in the reactant side is 12 and the number of H atoms in the product side is also 12.

These results are in accordance with the law of conservation of mass.

Equivalent conversions:

1 atm = 760 mm Hg = 101.325 kPa

Dalton’s law is presented inthis formula, P = p1 + p2 + … +pn where p1, p2 to pn are the pressures of theindividual gases and the P is the total pressure.

Let p1 = CO2, p2 = O2 and p3 =N2

p1 = 125mmHg (1 atm/760 mmHg) =0.1645 atm

p2 = 22 kPa (1 atm/101.325 mmHg)= 0.2171 atm

P = p1 + p2 + p3

1.5atm = 0.1645 atm + 0.2171 atm+ p3

p3 = N2 = 1.1184 atm

Why does the flow of science just keep going

Answers

Answer:

The Flow of science keeps going because not everything is fully discovered yet. New things are discovered everyday and are also made better as well.

Explanation:

A newly discovered element, Z, has two naturally occurring isotopes. 90.3 percent of the sample is an isotope with a mass of 267.8 u, and 9.7 percent of the sample is an isotope with a mass of 270.9 u. What is the weighted average atomic mass for this element?

Answers

atomic mass=percentage of isotope a * mass of  isotope a + percentage of isotope b * mass of  isotope b+...+percentage of isotope n * mass of isotope n.

Data:
mass of isotope₁=267.8 u
percentage of isotope₁=90.3%

mass of isotope₂=270.9 u
percentage of isotope₂=9.7%

Therefore:

atomic mass=(0.903)(267.8 u)+(0.097)(270.9 u)=
=241.8234 u + 26.2773 u≈268.1 u

Answer: the mass atomic of this element would be 268.1 u
