What would probably happen if you poured a liquid onto a solid table

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

The water would just spread out on the table mainly because of van der waal forces, but it would stop eventually because of surface tensile forces.

What is surface tension?

Surface tension is a force which tends to maintain the tension in water surface due to surface tension insects moves on the surface of water. It is a force which act in outward direction. S.I unit of surface tension is Newton-meter.

Surface tension is a physical quantity which is vector quantity i.e it has both magnitude and direction.

Mathematically,

Surface tension is reciprocal of force per unit length it means that force which act in a one meter length is called surface tension.

Force is defined as a phenomena which try to displace any object or it try to move an object from one point to another point. S.I unit of force is Newton. It is vector quantity i.e it has a both magnitude and direction.

Therefore,The water would just spread out on the table mainly because of van der waal forces, but it would stop eventually because of surface tensile forces.

List some ways houses would be built differently if gravity were much stronger or weaker

Answers

Gravity plays an important role in how we build our houses and structures. If gravity was much weaker on Earth, we would be able to use structures that are not as resistant. Buildings would not have to carry as much weight, which would mean that weaker materials would be able to be used.

On the other hand, much stronger gravity would mean that buildings would have to endure a lot more pressure. Moreover, everything inside the building (furniture, people, etc.) would be heavier, which would require stronger structures.

if gravity where much weaker, then the houses wouldnt need as much structural support, and then could be built much more taller as they wouldnt go through as much stress. and if gravity was stronger, buildings would need to be alot more structurally sound and wouldnt be able to maintain a tall structure as the force of gravity would be too much for them. hope i helped :3

What is this a model of

Answers

Answer:

An atom or, to be more specific, a helium atom.

Explanation:

This is a model of an atom. You can tell by the nucleus made only out of neutrons (the balls with no + or - sign) and protons (the balls with the + sign) and by the electrons (the balls with the - sign) circling around the nucleus.

This is a model of not just any atom, but a helium atom. An atom is defined by it's number of protons. For example, an atom with 1 proton is always hydrogen and an atom with 6 protons is always carbon. As you can see, this model has 2 protons. Any atom with 2 protons is a helium atom. This is a model of a helium atom.

What happens when you mix acid and base?

Answers

Acids are chemicals with a pH less than 7 that can donate a proton or H+ ion in a reaction. Bases have a pH greater than 7 and can accept a proton or produce an OH- ion in a reaction. If you mix equal amounts of a strong acid and a strong base, the two chemicals essentially cancel each other out and produce a salt and water. Mixing equal amounts of a strong acid with a strong base also produces a neutral pH (pH = 7) solution. This is called a neauturization and looks like
HA + BOH → BA + H2O + heat

A chemical reaction by definition forms new chemicals (called the products) from the initial chemicals (called the reactants). It should make sense that the identity of the products formed depends on what reactants we start with. Adding an acid to a base is an example of a chemical reaction, so we should expect to see new products. Although there is a pattern to this type of reaction, ultimately the products formed depend on what acid and what base are used.
